“Voices of Our Past” Returns to Woodlawn Cemetery
History is coming back to life as the Woodlawn Cemetery Association and special guests Alumni Players! prepares for this year’s “Voices of Our Past” on Saturday, October 8, 2022 (Columbus Day weekend). The actors are cast and the months of research have led to seven “residents” of the historic Edwardsville cemetery presenting their fascinating life stories and their impacts on what has become this current version of our beloved town.
This is the 5th year that Woodlawn has given the cemetery tours that feature some of Edwardsville’s prominent, and not so prominent, past citizens. This year the theme centers on professions including a Civil War Battlefield Physician, Edwardsville’s first Telegraph Operator, a Librarian, a Prize-Winning Equestrian, and some other interesting characters.
Guides will lead small groups through the beautiful shaded historic cemetery stopping to hear actor’s stories at seven different stations. Starting at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, the afternoon guided walking tours leave promptly at their starting time and will be broken into 3 groups of up to 20 people in each. The last tours are set to leave at 3:00 PM. Please plan on arriving 15-20 minutes prior to the time on your ticket.
A special seated candlelight presentation will be held in Woodlawn’s hillside chapel on Saturday evening, October 8th, at 7:00 PM. Note though, that seating in the chapel is very limited, so tickets are only available in advance and generally sell out quickly.
All daytime tour and evening presentation tickets are $15.00 each and must be purchased in advance only via the link below:
